We are a family of four, with a 3 & 5 year old, and wefre traveling to Kyoto for a week at the end of this month.
Could you please take a look at tentative itinerary and see if notice any obvious flaws or have any advice or helpful hints to share?
Since wefre traveling with a kids and we donft want to over schedule them (not to mention one of them still naps), wefve tried to as much as possible limit our activities each day.
Thanks in advance for your help!
SUNDAY- Arrival Arrive at KIX at 8:25 pm, take Ltd. EXPRESS Haruka or Airport Limousine Bus to Kyoto Station/New Miyako Hotel (estimate arrival around midnight)
MONDAY- Downtown and Highashiyama -Nishiki Market (take Karasuma Line to Shiko Station) Teramachi and Shinkyogoku Shopping Arcades -Gion (walk or taxi) -Maruyama Park and surrounding temples (Yasaka-jinja Shrine, Chion-in Temple, Shoren-in Temple)
TUESDAY- Arashiyama (JR San-In Line Sonobe to Saga-Arashiyama Station) -Tenryu-ji Temple -Bamboo Grove -Togetsukyo Bridge -Monkey Park
WEDNESDAY- Nara (Take Kintetsu-Ltd Express to Yamato-Saidaiji Station, take Kintetsu-Nara Line to Shin-Omiya Station) -Todaiji Temple -Nara Park
THURSDAY -Fushimi Inari Shrine (take JR Nara line to Inari Station) -Is there anything else in the area we should try to see on this day? -Railway Museum
FRIDAY- Osaka **(need transport help here) -Osaka Aquarium -Tempozan Market -Dotonbori
SATURDAY- Osaka/Departure **(need transport help here) -Kids Plaza -anything else we should see in Osaka? -pick up souvenirs -Travel to Airport (Ltd. EXPRESS Haruka to KIX for 11:25 pm flight)
**My boys really want to ride the Shinkansen. Can you suggest a good way that we can do this to or from Osaka? It looked up times on hyperdia.com, but taking the bulletin train doesnft really seem to save us any time overall versus the regular trains.

I like it itineray. With very young kids, it is good to have a few half days. You can always add more if time and energy permits.
I see nowhere that you can really ride the shinkansen. Or have time to add a return trip on shinkansen just for fun. Probably just ride it between Kyoto and Shin-Osaka.
