Japan Itinerary for Mar-April 2018

Hello Everyone

We ( 3 adults and 1 child) will be in Japan during the cherry blossom season from Mar 29th till April 9th 2018. Flying into Tokyo and flying back from Osaka.

Our Itinerary is as follows

- Tokyo - March 29th till April 1st -3 Nights
- Hiroshima - April 1st (Preferably take the evening Bullet Train to Shin-Osaka and Hiroshima from there)
- Miyajima - April 2nd
- Kyoto - April 3rd - April 6th - 3 Nights
- Nara - April 6th
- Osaka - April 7th
- Koyasan - April 8th
- Flying from Osaka 23.25 hrs

So need suggestions from members if traveling from Tokyo - Hiroshima advisable?

Also was wondering if we can cover the Kii Peninsula area, by dropping Osaka or Nara on April 6th or April 7th. Want to cover the Kumano Nachi Shrine, Kumano Hongu Shrine. Stay near Nachi Taisha Shrine on April 7th and head to Mount Koyasan from there via Hongu. But for that we need to take a Self Drive Car, Is that area good for Self Drive? Any recommendation on Self Drive and accomodation in that area. Is the road which connects Hongu to Koyasan good enough.

Maybe you can fly from Haneda to Hiroshima to save money and time on the Shinkansen. Then I'd buy a JR West Sanyo-San'In Area Pass for 7 days and that'll get you from Hiroshima to Kyoto and the other places, except the last parts of the trip to Koyasan.

With that pass you can reserve all the Shinkansen, including the Nozomi service. The only part not covered is the Shin-Osaka to Kyoto portion on the Shinkansen, but you can use JR trains to get there.

Thanks for the suggestion but booking a flight from Tokyo to Hiroshima now is too expensive. Have to take Bullet Train using JR Pass.
