Possible to see sakura in Tokyo in April? 2018/3/18 23:59
Hello. Considering that the cherry blossoms have begun blooming nine days ahead of schedule in Tokyo, will it be possible to see any sakura at all in the first week of April 2018 in Tokyo?

I cant help you with that but if you miss them in Tokyo, Bessho Onsen and Ueda usually has them quite a bit later and it doesnt take long to get there from Tokyo.

Some people seem to misunderstand sakura... There is not just one type that blooms at one time. While the big sakura season, made up largely of Somei Yoshino and similar varieties, may be finished when you are here, try searching for other -- often more interesting -- compound blossom varieties that will be in bloom later. In particular, try searching out YAE-ZAKURA varieties, such as Ukon, Gyoiko, and so on, which tend to be several weeks later than simple blossom varieties . That way you can see some very interesting yellow sakura blossoms, green sakura blossoms, and so on.

Gyoiko (ギョイコウ), which are green: https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E3%82%AE%E3%83%A7%E3%82%A4%E3%82%B3%E3%...

Ukon (ウコン), which are yellow:

Some gardens specialize in YAE-ZAKURA.
