US passport stay 2018/3/19 16:43
Hello! I know that US passport holders can stay for up to 90 days only but my friend is planning to visit Japan on May and then visit Korea on August and the return to Tokyo again after a few days in Korea. Will it be an issue if he will purchase the following tickets?

Roundtrip ticket: US - TOKYO. MAY to NOVEMBER
Roundtrip ticket: TOKYO - KOREA AUGUST (4 days)

So technically his Visa will refresh after returning from Korea and enter Japan again on August which will give him until November again (that's why he is planning to have a Nov return ticket instead of August). Should he just purchase a 90 day round trip ticket and just rebook for November or will the set up above work? All answers will be appreciated. Thank you.

Immigration will want to see a return ticket of no more than 90 days away. Otherwise they think you will over stay.

Or just have no return ticket and tell immigration that a return ticket will be purchased at a later date.
