Late blooming sakura tokyo & kyoto 2018/3/26 04:43
I will visit tokyo at 8th and 9th april and kyoto at 10th april.
Is it possible for me to get some sakura at showa kinnen park (tokyo)
And omura sakura at ninnaji temple (kyoto)
Or should i visit nagano instead?

In terms of odds, somewhere in Nagano would be the better choice, as this map shows:

One of the most awesome sakura viewing experiences is at Matsumoto Castle, especially with the evening illumination.

Worried about Sakura and your near Kyoto? Then just go to Yoshino. The elevation covers around a month so there will be some sakura at some elevation....

Among the ones above, Matsumoto Castle would be the only solution now.

Showa Kinen Park Mar 29 (full bloom) - Apr 6 (Sakura blizzard) http://weathernews.jp/sakura/pinpoint/?id=4404
Omurozakura/Ninnaji Apr 4 - Apr 7

Matsumoto Castle Apr 6 - Apr 12

Re: Late blooming sakura tokyo & kyoto 2018/4/3 05:09
Matsumoto, for sure. The big sakura festival at the castle starts this Wednesday and runs for 8 days. The evening illumination is awesome, too!
Based on the sakura prediction and the weather forecast, it looks like this coming Sunday will be the best day.

Also, the place known as "Koboyama" in Matsumoto city is a sight to behold -- and entire mountain covered in nothing but sakura, with a panorama view of the city from the top.

Here's how to get there:

If you are into really late sakura, try Takato Castle in Ina city, Nagano Prefecture. Their event is even later and is totally amazing.

Kanazawa: Apr 8 & 10 would be a sunny day. https://www.wunderground.com/forecast/jp/kanazawa-shi
Kenrokuen: Apr 4 - 11 https://weathernews.jp/s/sakura/spot/257/index.html
Utatsuyama: Soon - Apr 10 https://weathernews.jp/s/sakura/spot/259/index.html

Matsumoto: Apr 9 & 10 look fine. https://www.wunderground.com/forecast/jp/matsumoto-shi
Matsumoto Castle: Apr 6 - 12 https://weathernews.jp/s/sakura/spot/4805/index.html
Koboyama: Apr 6 - 13 https://weathernews.jp/s/sakura/spot/4807/index.html
Joyama Koen: Apr 7 -12 https://weathernews.jp/s/sakura/spot/163/index.html

Takato: Also Apr 9 & 10. https://www.wunderground.com/forecast/jp/takato/IINASHI4?cm_ven=localw...
Takato Castle Ruin Park (Festival Apr 1 - 30) Apr 9 - Apr 14 https://weathernews.jp/s/sakura/spot/165/index.html

The above WeatherNews links include links to the official page and a "MAP". You should keep an eye on the forecasts both for weather and Sakura. Currently, they suggest that Kanazawa would be in a later stage, Matsumoto in the middle, and Takato is in an earlier stage of full bloom. Cherry blossoms are bright whitish pink in an earlier stage. They get redder towards Sakura blizzard. Along the way, a pink carpet would develop under the trees, while leaves start to come out. I like an earlier stage, but some love a later one.

I show a candidate destination list prepared for a visit window of Apr 10-23 here.

But, be careful. The forecasts are fluctuating. Takato has moved a few days earlier since the above.
Apr 6-12 Nagano/Takato (JR Inashi, 25 min bus, 15 min walk) https://weathernews.jp/s/sakura/spot/165/index.html

In the same framework above, this is a new list for Apr 13-19.

Apr 17-24 Ibaragi/Shizumine Furusato Koen (JR Shizu, 30 min walk) https://weathernews.jp/s/sakura/spot/4001/index.html

The above are only selected from the Sakura 100 in Japan. You could find more secondary Sakura sites but more popular ones. From a list by Japan-Guide, you may pick up Fuji Five Lakes, Takayama, Kitakami, and Hirosaki, now.

Re: Late blooming sakura tokyo & kyoto 2018/4/4 17:47
@shintaWD, instead of complaining that you are "not a fan of hiking," you should have at least thanked @mfedley for trying to help you. Do you think that mfedly will ever try to help you again? Think about how many other potential assistants you have turned off because their sincere advice might be casually dismissed by you. Why should they even bother to try to help someone so ungrateful? You should thank everyone who helped, and not just those that you agreed with.

Add to that the topic of your question has been asked and answered so many times in recent weeks. Try to do some research yourself first before being lazy and asking others to do your work for you (and then casually dismissing advice that you don't like).

Re: Late blooming sakura tokyo & kyoto 2018/4/7 22:27
I was at Shinjuku park today (the 7th) and there were a lot of trees still in full bloom, especially on the center lawn and Japanese Garden areas. If you will be here 8 and 9th, go there for for sure. The other main areas have mostly changed from flowers to leaves.

We have also been to Nagano, Matsumoto, Nikko (and utsonimaya) in the past few days and all were in full bloom. Although not a lot of trees at Nikko, admittedly.
