Kyoto sakura 2018/3/28 13:27
I will be in Kyoto on Apr 1st. However according to yesterday's report, the major spots in Kyoto are already in full bloom. Do you think the sakura will still be in peak condition on Apr 1st? Esp places like Philospher's path. Thanks.

I saw the report for Kyoto yesterday. That's why I'm afraid by the time I arrive the peak is already over :(

Weather forecast tells no rain in Kyoto until 1st April which is considered to be a plus factor for the maintenance of Sakura bloom. But at the same time, it will be rather warm which work as a minus factor.

Five days after full bloom is in general rather long. I think you might better have back-up plan. There are some late blooming Sakura (not major Someiyoshino) in Kyoto.

There are other places like Kamigamo Shrine and Sanzenin in Ohara.

I have been in Kyoto for over a week now, and today (3/28) I visited Higashiyama (eastern Kyoto) area and I would rate the bloom as 80~90% full. So by 4/1, I would guess the bloom to be a few days past peak, but still very enjoyable.

Thanks yall.

I'm quite sad that this time I'd miss peak sakura in Tokyo and Osaka. I was hoping that I can catch peak sakura in Kyoto too, but I guess the warm weather is really pushing it so fast this week. I believe this is the earliest full bloom peak ever in Kyoto and Osaka?

I also plan to go to Kanazawa, Fukui and Yoshino, so probably I can still catch some sakura action. Just that the top on my sakura wish list is Kyoto :(

Likely so. Daigoji in Kyoto marked full bloom on Mar 25 and Osaka Castle on Mar 26 this year. The earliest record ever was Mar 28 in 2002 both in Kyoto and Osaka.

I hope you will be enjoying all the three sites you mentioned. Especially, all the three main areas in Yoshino will be full bloom in a few days.
