Kyoto Day Trip Itinerary

Hi all,

We will be visiting Kyoto on a day trip from Nagoya next week, Wednesday. We've been to Kyoto before, so we're limiting our itinerary to Arashiyama and Nijo Castle. Is this feasible?

Also, I've read up how crowded Kyoto may be during sakura week. Do you think the crowds may be overwhelming at the places we plan to visit? If yes, does anyone have alternative suggestions for places to go to?

Since these are large it will be much better than really crowded place like Kiyomizudera or Ginkakuji. In these places, people go one narrow road, so it is hard to walk.

However, lunch places will be very crowded. If the weather is fine, you might better buy lunch box (Bento or Eki-ben) at JR Kyoto station where choose from many types of Bento and eat it at Arashiyama. Note that you may have to carry the empty box.
