Hokkaido is it suitable for elderly?

I plan to bring my parents to Hokkaido for holiday in May. My father's is having leg pain if he had to walk long distance. My mom is ok. May I know is Hokkaido there required lot walking as I worried my dad cannot walk to long.

Yeah, this could be anywhere from a national park to just Sapporo. Like asking if California is suitable.
