Hi
we are going to visit Japan next month a family of 5 adults and a baby
we are considering renting a Honda Stepwagon or Nissan Serena
I would like to verify no special driving license is required ( D )

I was assuming that drorg holds a driver's license issued in Israel. Indeed, if my assumption is wrong, then an international driving permit may not be the correct additional document needed. See the previous link for details.

An International Drivers License is recognized by Japan. It is up to the travelers home country as to whether they issue them or not.
