Apartment rent

If im staying in an apartment in Japan, the monthly rental payment I pay is for me to be able to stay in for another month, Right?
I am currently staying in Saitama, and planning to leave the place in April 20. Monthly Payment is every End of the Month. And I already paid last March 31 for the Month of April if I am not wrong. Should I still pay for this Month if ever?
