Where to stay Tsumago or Magone

Hi
We are travelling from Matsumoto to Tsumago/Magone nod then Nagoya.
Given this which would be best location to stay Tsumago or Magone.
We want to do the Nakasendo trail and from what I have read going from Magone to Tsumago is an easier walking option ?
Also does anyone have any recommendation for accomodation in either Tsumago or Magone

Hi. The walk from Magome is quite steep for the first 500m or so then mostly a gentle downhill walk. I dont really think going from Tsumago would be difficult, so I wouldnt be too concerned. There are waterfalls closer to Tsumago which are really nice, so either way make sure to take that detour. Personally I think Magome is a prettier town so I'd look to finish there and have lunch or whatever.

We stayed at Kisoji which is nearby. It is nice enough but I'd have preferred an inn in town.

Tsumago is closer to Matsumoto. Magome is closer to Nagoya.
