Getting closer to my trip and appreciate all the feedback thus far. Below is just about the final itinerary, appreciate any comments about it or if there are any glaring issues! Other than the AirBNB the rest of the accommodation is not paid for yet. The only event locked in is the Sumo.
Sat, May 12:
• Land in Osaka at 7.10pm
• Purchase ICOCA + Haruka/Exchange JR Passes (Request JR activation for the 16th May (D5-11))
• Take Haruka Express to Sakura Terrace Hotel (base for 12th-16th)
Sun, May 13:
• Arashiyama - Monkey Park, Tenryu-ji, Bamboo Grove, Okochi Sanso Villa, Sagano scenic railway (do tickets need to be pre-purchased?).
Mon, May 14:
• Fushimi Inari Shrine (Early morning)
• Higashiyama: Sanjusangendo, Kiyomizu-dera, Sannenzaka Ninenzaka, Yasaka Shrine
• Gion, Nishiki Market
Tue, May 15:
• Northern Higashiyama: Nanzenji Temple, Eikando Temple, Philosophers Path, Ginkakuji Temple, Nijo Castle
• Aoi Matsuri Festival
• Ponto-Cho
Wed, May 16:
• Tokaido-Sanyo Shinkansen to Hiroshima (via Himeji castle?) – leave suitcases in coin lockers at the station
• Visit A-Bomb Dome, Hiroshima Castle, Hiroshima Peace Park & Museum, Shukkeien Garden, Cenotaph for the A-Bomb Victims
• Take the JR Ferry to Miyajima and check into Jukeiso

• floating Torii gates, Itsukushima shrine, Daisho-in Temple, Mt Misen
• Ferry and train to Tokyo
• Check into Air BNB in Shinjuku (Shinjuku-sanchome Station)
Fri, May 18:
• Meiji Shrine, Yoyogi Park, Tokyo Metro Government Building, Harajuku (Cat Street), Shibuya, Shimokitazawa and Koenji
• Nakano Broadway, Shinjuku, Golden Gai (night)
Sat, May 19:
• Tokyo Free Guide (Anyone use this?) - Asakusa (Sensoji Temple), Ueno (Temples, Shrines, Museums), Check out Sanja Matsuri (Asakusa)
Sun, May 20:
• Mitake-San Hike
Mon, May 21:
• Tsukiji Fish Markets (morning), Edo-Tokyo museum, Imperial Palace, Ginza
• Ryogoku Kokugikan (Sumo) – BOOKED – 2pm?
Tue, May 22:
• Tokaido-Sanyo Shinkansen to Osaka
• Check into HOTEL UNIZO Osaka Shinsaibashi
• yamazaki distillery tour
• City walk sights of minami (Dotonbori, Shinsaibashi Shopping Arcade)
Wed, May 23:
• Explore Osaka (Umeda Sky Building, Daimaru, Abeno Harukus), shinsekai
• Nankai-Limited Express train to Kansai Airport – flight departs at 8.40pm
