Matsumoto Sightsee Pass & Bus Pass 2018/5/3 22:30
hi,

I plan to go to Matsumoto Castle and Matsumoto City Museum of Art (http://matsumoto-artmuse.jp/)

I would like to ask if there is any bus pass which will bring me to these 2 places?
Also, do anyone know if I can buy a pass that grants me access to these 2 places?

Unfortunately, this website didn't answer my question: http://welcome.city.matsumoto.nagano.jp/contents02+index.htm

Thanks in advance for all your guidance.

How about use Matsumoto 1 day pass?
You can freely ride a bus in Matsumoto city by 800 yen / adult.
In addition, some shops and sightseeing spots discounts service fee with this pass,

This ticket serves by Alpico bus.

Unless you have physical limitations, I would recommend walking. It is a very pleasant city to walk through, and it is about 15 minutes walk between each of the locations you are visiting. Total round trip from the station, to castle to musuem and back to station is only about 3.5km (plus any walking on castle grounds). There are very clear street signs in multiple languages and a walking map available at the tourist center in the station.

You could buy a bus pass, but I think you'll miss out on a lot of the experience. If you walk, I would suggest walking down Nakamachi street on your way in between the castle and the museum.

Matsumoto is a well walkable city.
But also - I can only recommend their bike rent - it is free, bikes are good and then you can even ride (via almost countryside) to ukio-e museum (and nearby court museum).
In castle it is best is to get a voluntaire guide - I enjoyed the 1,5h tour what a retired post-office manager gave us.

Yes, walking works well and is quick. A bus pass may be worthwhile if you're going to Asama Onsen.

If the Yayoi Kusama show is still on at the Art Museum, you're in for a treat. It's amazing. We were there a few weeks ago.

Nearby the Art Museum is a miso making place (I hesitate to say "factory", as it's almost the opposite of that), which is really good for a quick visit - a tour and a miso soft-serve ice cream.

Thanks for all your guidance. I am ok with walking. Just worried that I might get lost. Do u know if there's any map that I can get at the visitor information centre next to Matsumoto station?

Sure, you can get information from the visitor center. However, google map would also be a great help: https://www.google.co.jp/maps/dir/Japan,+Nagano+Prefecture,+Matsumoto,...
