Narita Airport to Shimbashi Station 2018/6/21 02:16
Hello,
The closest station to the hotel that I will be travelling to is Gaiemmae and wondered what the best route is to get there from Narita Airport. Google Maps suggests taking the Narita Skyaccess line to Shimbashi Station and then the Ginza Line from there to Gaiemmae, but I'm confused by the Skyaccess/Asakusa connection. Is it one straight train or is there a transfer? Also, with this route, how do the tickets work for the trains and subways? Can I use a Suica card for the whole journey? Other websites suggest a completely different route, so I wondered which route is best/cheapest/easiest for a first time traveller to Japan.
Thanks a lot.

Whether there is a transfer depends on the particular train. Look it up on Hyperdia (and be sure to have the correct depature date and time). Yellow icon = transfer; arrows = no transfer.

For cheapest, I would consider taking the Access Narita bus to Ginza station and then boarding the Ginza subway line to Gaiemmae. Bus is only 1000y, so very affordable.

Fastest would probably be to take the Keisei Skyliner to Keisei-Ueno, use the underground tunnel (5 min walk maybe?) to board Ginza line underneath Ueno station.

if you have JR pass that will be active, you could take the N'EX to Shibuya, and board Ginza line there. But this is not any faster than bus and expensive without JR pass.

I have always found Sky Access a bit confusing as the trains don't always behave the same and depending on the time of day, don't go to the same places. If you miss one train, the next may not be the same. The above options are more predictable for a foreigner to use in my opinion.

How much would the Keisei Skyliner route be roughly, and would I be able to use a Suica card?

Re: Narita Airport to Gaiemmae Station

Various routes are available.

What are your first and second priorities among the following?
: low cost, easiness, secured seat, speediness.

How is your flight arrival scheduled?
How long will you be in Japan?
Which places in and around Tokyo will you visit?
Will you fly out from NRT?

Tokyo Subway Route Map:
https://www.tokyometro.jp/en/subwaymap/

taking the Access Narita bus to Ginza station
and then boarding the Ginza subway line to Gaiemmae

The Ginza bus stop of the Access Narita
is around the elevator for the Marunouchi Line concourse
(near Entrance C7) of subway Ginza Station.
http://www.tokyometro.jp/station/yardmap_img/_station_%E9%8A%80%E5%BA%...

You can make a quicker transfer to the Ginza Line
at Akasaka-mitsuke Station,
where you get off a train arriving at Track 2
and catch a train departing at Track 1,
which is on the other side of the same platform.
http://www.tokyometro.jp/station/yardmap_img/_station_%E8%B5%A4%E5%9D%...

Ginza (M-16)
: Track 3
| Marunouchi Line
: Track 2
(M-13) Akasaka-mitsuke (G-05)
: Track 1
| Ginza Line
: Track 1
(G-03) Gaiemmae
http://www.tokyometro.jp/station/yardmap_img/_station_G03%E5%A4%96%E8%...

Alternatively you can walk in Ginza Station
on the pathway over the Hibiya Line platform
to the Ginza Line concourse,
but it would take more time.

Access Narita bus + walking + Tokyo Metro:
1165 yen, around 2 hours.
http://accessnarita.jp/en/home/#timetable-title-3386
: 1000 yen as the bus fare.
: 195 yen as the subway (IC) fare (#).

How much would the Keisei Skyliner route be roughly,

Keisei Skyliner + walking + Tokyo Metro:
2395 yen, around 1 hour 20 minutes.
: 2200 yen on the Skyliner discount e-ticket.
: 195 yen as the subway (IC) fare (#).
http://www.keisei.co.jp/keisei/tetudou/skyliner/us/value_ticket/coupon...

The Keisei regular cost is 2465 yen
( = 1235 yen as the (IC) basic fare (#)
+ 1230 yen as the Skyliner surcharge).

When you choose the package
of Tokyo Subway Ticket + one-way Skyliner ticket,
you pay 2000 yen for your Skyliner ride.
http://www.tokyometro.jp/lang_en/ticket/value/airport_bus/index.html

Tokyo Subway Ticket can cover the above subway fees.
http://www.tokyometro.jp/lang_en/ticket/value/travel/index.html#anc01

The underground transfer route
between Keisei Ueno Station and subway Ueno Station
is equipped with elevators.

and would I be able to use a Suica card?

Keisei Skyliner | JR Narita Express
is a fast train service
which requires a surcharge in addition to the basic fare.
Suica or PASMO e-money cannot be assigned for this surcharge.

Even when you use a Suica or PASMO card
for your Skyliner | Narita Express ride,
you should pay the surcharge separately.

(#) The prices of railway basic fares in and around Tokyo
may be slightly different
depending on whether you travel with paper ticket or IC card.

Re: Narita Airport to Shimbashi Station 2018/6/23 11:19
If you are taking the skyliner, I recommend getting the combo skyliner + 72hr subway ticket at the airport. It's an excellent deal on subway fare.

This shows the transfer from the Skyliner to Ginza line undergound that might be useful. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rc4v3glpV9o

Don't worry or rush because the Ginza line train comes every 2-5 minutes. If you miss one, the next one is right behind it.

An option with one transfer - slightly more expensive, but reasonably straight forward and comfortable - and yes, I know the walk from the N'Ex arrival platform to the Ginza platform is about 200 meters:
Narita Express to Shibuya.
Ginza line two stops to G-03.
