Smaller islands in the south 2018/6/30 18:24
Hello

I'm travelling to Osaka this fall. I wanted to go to one of the smaller islands south of Japan (e.g. Mishima, Kuchinosima). I tried to google websites for information about ferrys from Osaka but can't find anything. If anyone had any ideas where to go or where to find ferry information from Osaka, that would be most helpful.

Thank you!

In Osaka, ports are used only for long distances, large ships .

So if want to go to smaller islands,
it is necessary to go to the port by transit or another transportations(train, bus or air).

There used to be a site that can easily check the timetable of small islands route (only Japanese),
but this service stopped, just still left the route maps like this.

Maybe that is all western side ferry routes in WEST part of Japan as near Osaka to Okinawa.
When the service was alive, we can get ferry company info easy from black circle of the route.

Even in Google Maps, although the ferry route is on the map of sea,
but if the distance is short, it may not be displayed unless enlarge.

I do not know whether Google translate will translate correctly,
but this list is the island where the person lives as island name and address (official place name).

If you like comics and animes, pilgrimage of "Bakamon" may be interesting.

Also another island featured at 2nd ep "Cosmonaut"of "5 cm per Second" and "Robotics;Notes".

I also feel "a dream" in the life of such small island,
because I living in urban city and as geek of fishing, Western sea has a lot of bigger ones.

I tried to google websites for information about ferrys from Osaka but can't find anything.

I think it's because there are no ferries from Osaka to Mishima islands or Kuchinoshima. Note that these islands have very few populations.

If anyone had any ideas where to go or where to find ferry information from Osaka, that would be most helpful.

As I said, no ferries from Osaka. You must go to Kagoshima first and then take very infrequent ferries. Accommodations are also very limited.
