Visa status change from student to working

Hello.
I am about to submit my application for visa change from student to work and I am aware about the process.
I will submit my application after which I will receive a letter(postcard) after 1-3 weeks which I have to take to the immigration office alone with my passport to get my visa changed.
My main question is that is there any validity on the post card? Because I will be leaving japan after 3-4 weeks after I have made the application. So, I would not be able to take the card and passport immediately.
Can I take the passport and the postcard to the immigration office after like 1-1.5 months after i receive the postcard or does it have any deadline?

A more important question it whether it is possible for you to leave Japan for so long... When does your current status expire?
