Transfer to Towadako from Saimyoji or Semboku

I am looking for the best way to get from Saimyoji to Towada Lake (in fact, to Towadako Grand Hotel). It looks like I should be getting to Hachinohe by Shinkansen from Kakunodate, and then take a bus to Towada. Is there a shorter way?
