Hi,
we would like to go to Japon in January for abt 8 days, we want to do TOKYO Nara Kyoto Osaka,. I dont know if it is useful to buy JR PASS , we want to see main places of Tokyo, pls reply me , thanks, as we are planning to do alone.

Depends on the places you wanna see. But many in Kyoto for example cannot be accessed by JR lines. So JR pass will not work.

Doing the round trip Tokyo/Kyoto and some side trips can make the 7-day pass worthwhile. But depending on your actual destinations it is not going to save lots over single tickets.
If you arrange flying into one city and out the other you can save more on transport costs.
