Use JR East (Tohoku) Pass on JR buses

I read somewhere that the above pass can now be used on JR buses from Aomori to Oirase/Towadako area, just like JR Rail pass for unlimited rides. Is it true ? Do we need to reserve the bus seats using the pass ? My trip will take place in Oct.
What abt using the pass from Aomori to Mt Hakkoda ?
