Spouse visa renewal

Hello,
I have a question!
Ifm married with a Japanese and Ifm waiting for the renewal of my spouse visa for the first time. My visa will expire soon on 5th September and we went to the office for the renewal on 24th July but I didnft get yet any answer form the office.
Is it normal to wait more than one months for the renewal?
And since Ifve applied for my visa in 24th July it means that my visa will be extend 2 months form that day or from 5th September since I applied for the renewal?

Your "visa" will not be extended. You will, however, be permitted to stay after it expires, for an additional two months after its expiration date or until a decision on your application is made, whichever comes first.
