Hiya, heading to Japan at the end of the year (25th Nov - 19th Dec) and was looking for some help to know how to go about JR Passes/getting around. Heres our itinerary: - 26th Nov: Land in Tokyo & go straight to Osaka - 26th - 30th Nov: Osaka - 30th Nov - 2rd December: Koyasan - 2rd - 7th Dec: Kyoto (including possible trip to Hiroshima) - 7th - 9th: Nagano - 9th - 14th Dec: Tokyo - 14th - 18th Dec: Snowboarding in Niseko - 18th -19th Dec: Narita to fly home
Many thanks!

For the Niseko portion, it's best to fly out of Haneda and land in Sapporo/Chitose. The return to Tokyo should be the same....flying is cheaper than trains and much faster.
I would buy individual ticket for the Tokyo to Osaka, since the 7 day pass will not get used efficiently within the 7 days of its validity.
While in Kyoto, you can get a 7 day pass for the Kyoto-Hiroshima-Tokyo portion, but only if you go to Hiroshima. If not, then individual ticket.

IF you definitely include Hiroshima, the 14 day national pass covers the 26th Nov to 9th Dec which is your return date into Tokyo. That would offer some savings.
