I will be in Nara for two full nights, but I am taking travel time into account so it leaves me with about 1.5 days to actually enjoy Nara. is that a good amount of time? to see the park, visit some temples/shrines and drink some beer? haha also, how is the nightlife in Nara?

Night life in Nara: non-existant. If you want night life, better go to Osaka or Kyoto. Generally, one day will allow you to see major sights and interact with the deer. Major temples/shrines are all clustered around Nara Park where the deers are. So you can walk from one temple to the next while feeding the deer. https://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2165.html

1,5 days for the major sites seeing them on your own pace should be fine. If you also want to visit Horyuji temple area I would add one day. Note that the Daibutsu gets incredibly full. Try to be there at the opening time and then you can set off on the hills behind where there are more temples with nice views. On the other day you could do the shrine area and deers. I also enjoyed Shinyakujshji (not to confound with an other one that isnft gshinh) , the house of Shiga Nagoya and the photography museum. All in the same are on the south of Kasuga Taisha and not touristy at all. I personally didnft like Heijo palace remains. But historically speaking they are obviously important.
Enjoy your trip to Nara!

I've spent half a day in Nara, seeing the deer park, Todai-ji, and some of the surrounding temples/shrines. I also discovered there that I like Japanese sweet potatoes. I definitely want to go back and see more (like the museum), but I don't feel like I missed out too much. One and a half days seems great.

Nara has 15 million people a year visit and 14 million of those only go for the day, so 1.5 days gives time for sightseeing and a beer. Nightlife - there would be some, and certainly not hard to find somewhere for a beer. The place is home to 360,000 people, so there would be some - I've never stayed over-night (I'm part of the 14M).
I did meet someone that stayed in Nara a week (just Nara, no outside trips) and they said they could have spent longer in the city.

Yes. Map out what you want to see. Visit the tourist info center. Sometimes they have cultural events for free.so worth a visit.
