Hakuba to YahIko Niigata

Hi

Wish to travel from Hakuba to YahIko visit YahIko Shrine & Park. If time allow back to Niigata city before travel back to Tokyo. If time not enough, travel from YahIko back to Tokyo. (All in a day)

Am not sure how should I travel from one point to another? Is there a faster/easier/convenient way? So to save travel time & see more? & is it cover under JR Nagano Niigata Pass?

Hakuba to Yahiko by train is possible and covered by the pass, but very long because it's entirely on slow and infrequent local trains with poor connections (see Hyperdia). Yahiko to Niigata is about an hour and covered as well.

Everything in Yahiko is within walking distance of Yahiko station.

Sorry, when going from Hakuba to Yahiko though Itoigawa, the part between Minami-Otari and Naoetsu is not covered, so that's an additional 1340 yen.

Alternatively, you can go through Matsumoto and Nagano, then everything is covered.

So, no, all in a day is not possible. Travel from Hakuba to Yahiko will already take pretty much a full day.
