Birth Allowance in Japan 2018/11/2 23:26
Hello,
I wish to ask if any woman who give birth in Japan qualities to receive the 420,000\ birth allowance given by Japanese Government? If not. What is required to be eligible? Are there any particular Hospitals that one need to give birth in before been eligible for the allowance? Thanks.

I assume you are talking about the "shussan ikuji ichijikin" of 420,000 yen. As long as you are signed up with some kind of health insurance in Japan, you should be eligible.

If the mother-to-be is signed up with her own employer's health insurance, or if she is a dependent of a husband who is signed up with his employer' health insurance, ask the employer for the procedure. Or if she is signed up with the national health insurance, ask the municipal government about the procedure.

Depending on the hospital (in case the hospital you gave birth at is not a member in the childbirth compensation system) the amount might be reduced to 404,000 yen, but you will get some amount in any case.
