Kamikochi as a day trip

Hi folks,

Is Kamikochi worth visiting in mid May as a daytrip on the way to Shin-hotaka Onsen? We really like nature trail, and are planning to go there from Kiso Valley, and just before we stay overnight at Shin-hotaka.

If we do a day trip to Kamikochi, would 2 hours be enough to spend there?

yes, sure, its on the way, but note that scenery will be not very much different from Shin-hotaka (it is just the other side of the same mountain).

if you got a car, you could check instead the onsen at Shirahone and the waterfalls of Sanbondaki for some not touristic experience. (Since you are also from a country with mountains like i am, they might impress you more than the mountains of Kamikochi)
