Ginkakuji to Hanamikoji Dori or Kyoto Station 2018/11/20 13:39
I will be in the Ginkakuji Temple / Philosopher's Path area till after sunset (after 4.45 p.m.) in late November. I plan to either proceed to Hanamikoji Dori (in the hope of catching sight of maiko or geisha) or return to Kyoto Station.

1. Which bus should I take to go to Hanamikoji Dori and from which bus stop?

2. Which bus should I take to return to Kyoto Station and from which bus stop?

3. What time does the Raku bus stop running?

Thanks in advance.

This may assist if you can decipher. It is all in English but it is overwhelming info. To Ginkakuji from Kyoto Station it is Bus Route 100.

Perhaps others can assist as well.

The nearest bus stop from Ginkakuji is Ginkakuji-mae where you can catch Raku-Bus No 100 to Gion (close to Hanamikoji) and JR Kyoto station.

However it can be very crowded in the peak season (late November is the peak season) and you might be caught by traffic jam in the city center (around Gion and Kyoto station). So If I were you I would not take bus. Instead I'd walk (or taxi if available) to Keihan Demachiyanagi station and take train to Gion-Shijo (Hanamikoji) or Tofukuji and then transfer to JR line to Kyoto. You may better transfer at Sanjo to subway and then at Karasumaoike to Kyoto since the JR from Tofukuji can be very crowded (there are Tofukuji and Fushimiinari on the line). Trains are very punctual so you don't need to "wait without knowing when you can catch the bus and when to arrive your destination".

If you walk from Ginkakuji to Demachiyanagi there are lots of cheap eateries (not street foods but small diners) for students since there is Kyoto university and there are many students around. If you want to eat like locals, this area is suitable.

May i know what time does the Raku bus stop running?
And is there any other bus option from Ginkakujimae to Gion or Kyoto Station apart from Raku Bus 100?
