2 nights 3 days itinerary for Izu Peninsula

We will be traveling from Tokyo and back , in April 2019 .
Is there any way to experience stay in a Temple ?
We are strict vegetarian and in our late 60s , me and my wife.
Will not be able to hire a self driven car .

When you say strict vegetarian, no fishmeat and no fish stock used in cooking?
I'd have suggested visiting and staying over in Ito/Jogasaki and Shimoda (using buses and trains to travel between places) but obviously you'd want to find accommodation that serves food that meets your needs. Vegetarian information website like "happycow" has limited information on Shizuoka prefecture.
