Some tips for a 10-day trip on Japan 2018/12/24 02:56
I am planning another 10 day trip around Japan at the end of February. I've seen Kyoto, Nara, Osaka and Tokyo and around. What will you say about this sightseeing plan?
Maybe you recommend some other interesting place?
I plan to purchase 7 Day JR Sanyo-San'in Area Pass and JR West Kansai Pass.

1. Arrival in the morning on Kansai - transfer to Kobe and evening return to Osaka,
2. All day in Koyasan
3. Hiroshima
4. Miyajima
5. Onomichi (Temple Walk)
6. Fukuyama
7. Takamatsu
8. Kurashiki and Okayama
9. Himeji
10. I do not have an idea here yet - maybe Hikone?
11. Departure in the morning

You'll definitely get your cardio workout the day of your temple walk in Onomichi! I hope you enjoy it! It's a wonderful little town!

Is there any reason you are staying at Fukuyama? It's ok - but I find Okayama has much more to do....

Sounds like a nice trip. If one of the Hiroshima-ish days is wet then you could consider visiting the Battleship Yamato museum at Kure. I found Himeji a great half day so you could to that on the way through. I would probably take the extra time in Okayama & visit either Naoshima for the art galleries etc or Bitchu Takahashi to walk to Bitchu-Matsuyama castle. I really like Hikone as everyone must know by now :)

@Mfedley Yes the Fukuyama stop does look a little odd. I would probably stay in Okayama & day trip to there, Kurashiki & Takamatsu.

Thanks for the answers.
Of course, I do not plan to stay or sleep in Fukuyama, just go there from Okayama.
In Fukuyama, only plans to see castle and Shinshoji temple and then go to Tomonoura.

As for Kure, it looks interesting :)

For Koyasan, are you doing it as a day trip or overnight? Be sure to see Okunoin - skip everything else if you must, but don't miss it. It will be quite cold there still. Elsewhere, you might be able to see the plum blossoms which are beautiful.
For Hiroshima & Miyajima, you might be able to fit in Iwakuni as well, particularly if you are not going to go up to Mt Misen.

For Takamatsu, the crown jewel is Ritsurin. You could spend a few hours there.

As for Himeji, you could make it a full day with the castle, Kokoen Garden and Mt Shosha, or half a day with the castle, garden, and visiting Kobe if you like.

You asked about one more day - Hikone is one good idea. The castle is charming, as is the Genkyuen garden next to it. Shiga also has some historic temples. Or there is Miyama and Amanohashidate.
