Himeji castle & garden for few hours? 2018/12/28 21:23
Hi,

I lands at Kansai around 9:30. Is it profitable, to go to Himeji for a few hours, to visit castle and garden?
I have accommodation in Osaka. Should I put it off for another day?
I will have West Kansai Pass.

Why not. You need to do something with the day, why not Himeji.

Himeji would be an excellent choice. The castle is one of the finest, and the beautiful Kokoen Garden near it is no less great.

Get the combination ticket (at the office, not the ticket vending machines) and one of them becomes almost free.

Most would allocate 3-4 hours. So your choice makes sense.

When will you travel?

Depending on days, it may be crowded inside Himeji Castle already before noon.
On Day 1, it will be after 11:15 when you can reach Himeji Park.

To Himeji City, Osaka City is closer than Kansai Airport [KIX].
If you can choose a weekday outside both school vacations and busy tourist seasons and get there in the early morning, that is more recommendable.

How is the rest of your itinerary?
What does "West Kansai Pass" stand for?
Where in Osaka City is your accommodation?
