Advice on Tokyo - Alpine Route - Tokyo 2019/4/13 12:14
Hi,

I am planning a short trip from Tokyo to visit the alpine route and surroundings in Sep 19.
Have the following 2 routes in mind, hence would like to seek advice which would be a more feasible/recommended option, in view that we would need to return to Tokyo after 5-6 days with our big luggages.

,Option A
Day 1 - depart Tokyo for Nagano via JR. Opt for baggage forwarding service to drop-off our big luggage for pick-up at Toyama, with only a backpack for the next few days of travel. Continue with Alpine route from Nagano to Ogizawa etc via bus and ropeway using the 'Tateyama Kurobe Option Ticket'. Stay overnight at Murodo.

Day 2 - From Murodo, continue the alpine route from Murodo down to Tateyama and finally at Toyama, Pick up luggage at Toyama. Stay one night at Toyama.

Day 3 - From Toyama to Takayama, to reach by noon and spend the day there. Stay overnight at Takayama.

Day 4 - Move off from Takayama after breakfast to Matsumoto. Spend the day and overnight at Matsumoto.

Day 5 - Back to Tokyo via JR from Matsumoto.

Option B
Day 1 - depart Tokyo for Matsumoto. Spend the day and overnight at Matsumoto.

Day 2 - From Matsumoto, take bus to Takayama and spend the day and overnight at Takayama.

Day 3 - Leave Takayama for Alpine route via Toyama. Opt for baggage forwarding service to drop-off our big luggage at Toyama for pick-up at Tokyo; continue travel with only a backpack for the next few days of travel. Continue with Alpine route from Toyama via train/cablecar/bus to using the 'Tateyama Kurobe Option Ticket'. Stay overnight at Murodo.

Day 4 - From Murodo, continue the alpine route towards Ogizawa and Shinano Omachi, and end at Nagano. Stay one night at Nagano.

Day 5 - Back to Tokyo via JR from Nagano.

Thanks!

The route seems to be the same only in inverse order. Or am I missing the point?
