JPR or taxi for traveling in the alps 2019/4/22 22:48
Hi,

I need advice regarding traveling from Takayama to the Nakaokogen Hotel and after that to matsumoto. We have a JRP, nevertheless that would take a long time. Of course we could rent a car but I wonder if simply taken a taxi would equalize (or be cheaper) than renting a car. We stay 3 nights in the hotel, it is more or less in the middle of the 2 cities and deep in the mountains.

Does anybody we experience with this?

Your hotel is Nakaokogen Hotel Kazaguruma, isn't it?
That hotel seems within a walking distance
from the nearby Nakaokogen-guchi bus stop.

Note that the JPR is not applicable at all for reaching this hotel. JPR is only usable on JR trains (!), but the closest train stations are Takayama and Matsumoto... but you want to go right in the middle of those two cities.

As PP said, the bus is the best transport in that region, unless you rent a car. Car rental could make sense if you are planning on excursions during the days you stay there. However renting in Takayama and returning in Matsumoto may incur an additional fee as it is two different prefectures.

Enjoy your trip to the Alps!
