Rail or bus pass if Osaka more than 7 days 2019/4/27 12:09
Hi, Site structure and links are really good. I am travelling with my family(5) with our 10 year old daughter. We are travelling for 2 weeks. I had look at budget travel which recommends bus travel between Cities. Our itinery is split 4 days in Tokyo 8 days in Osaka and 2 days in Tokyo before leaving from Narita airport. As bus pass allows only upto 3-7 days we might have to take 2 passes for 3 days which will cover our Tokyo - Osaka - Kyoto and Nara - Osaka-Tokyo. This will cost us around 20-25k Yen. So will it be better option to take 7 days Jrail Pass even if we cannot compalte Tokyo- Osaka-Tokyo travel. Can you suggest best travel options inside Tokyo as well?

4 Days in Tokyo: Buy greater Tokyo pass =7200 yen cover narita airport
8 Days in Osaka:Buy surutto kansai pass=5200 yen
1 way bus ticket=5000 yen from Tokyo to Osaka if bought in advance

No bus pass or rail pass that will cover Tokyo to Osaka and return will be a viable option as you are in Osaka for longer than 7 days.

As for local passes. Do your homework. Alot of passes dont pay off as most travelers wont use 2000 yen+ on subways and buses for short trip each day.
