Best way to reach Nagoya from Yokohama

Hi folks,
Can anyone please recommend the best way to reach Nagoya from Yokohama? Is the Tokaido Shinkansen the best way to do this and is getting a JR Pass worth it just for this transit alone?
Our itinerary for our May trip to Japan as follows:
- Tokyo
- Yokohama
- Nagoya
- Kiso Valley
- Matsumoto
- Okuhida/Hirayu Onsen
- Tateyama
- Toyama
- Kurobe Alpine (Murodo)
- Ogizawa
- Itoigawa
- Nagano
- Takaragawa Onsen
- Tokyo
Any advise is much appreciated, thank you.

Not enough shinkansen travel to warrant a JR pass.

Shin Yokohama is normally less than 20 minutes transfer from Yokohama Station.
Use the page on JG to work out how much exactly your trains will cost.

Best in the sense of fastest is without doubt the Shinkansen from Shin Yokohama.

If you are determined to go to Nagoya directly from Yokohama, there is nothing better than the Tokaido Shinkansen from Shin-Yokohama. Note that you can use the train ticket from your nearest JR station in Yokohama city.
But depending on your definition of "best", you might also enjoy the much much slower but more scenic route on the JR Chuo-honsen via Shiojiri.
Either way, ask for details when buying your ticket. And the Japan Rail Pass will not be worth it.
