Where to buy electronics online in Japan 2019/5/4 22:43
Hi everyone,
I need to update my workstation, so I started looking around the various known online retailers here (amazon, kakaku, rakuten...) but the prices compared to europe or the USA are insane.
A dell monitor is 218usd on amazon.com and 32.000 Yen on any japanese store.
Same price jump for specific components.

I was expecting electronic stuff to be at least priced equally here, not so much more. Also, on most marketplaces the only components at acceptable prices are literal junk (also old).

Does anyone with an IT related job know where to find components at acceptable prices? If not the same as the US, at least not 90 dollars more, that's unacceptable :( Having built my PCs for years in Europe, I find myself really frustrated looking for parts, for the first time.

Thanks in advance!

You may compare online price on kakaku.com BUT
as you have come to know some electronic stuff here is ridiculously priced, especially for D.I.Y. stuff.
Sometimes, even with shipping fees to Japan, stuff ordered from US Amazon worked out much cheaper.

Some online pc shops that cater for diy , not sure how the prices are ..

Thanks for the reply! I will have a look :)
Anyway yeah I was surprised since Japan is known to be high-tech. Well, living here I am realizing it might not be so at an end-user level.
