Walking from Tokyo to Otemachi 2019/6/24 19:03
I have two luggages with me.
I will take Haneda Airport Limo from Haneda Airport to Tokyo Station.
I intend to take Tozai Line to stop at Nakano (T01). Should I walk from Tokyo station or be better take a train from M17 to Otemachi Station (T09).

Hi!

I've walked from Tokyo Station to Otemachi several times (as I was staying near Otemachi at the Mitsui Otemachi.) It found the walk quite pleasant and easy since it tends to have relatively wide straight streets. I think it would depend on the time of day and day of the week how crowded the streets were. I can't speak for taking the subway from Otemachi since I wasn't going on the subway. I honestly don't know why you wouldn't just take the Chuo line from Tokyo Station to Nakano though.

Take care!

As suggested above, it will be easier (and much faster) to simply take the JR train to Nakano.

Thanks a lot.
One last question: From the bus stop at Yaesu North (Tekko Bldg.), I would assume that I need to enter into Tokyo station, what platform# that I would take JR's Chuo Line to Nakano?

Nakano is located west of Shinjuku stn, so the bus to Shinjuku is faster.

Check the map and HND web again.

Bus operating number is enough.

If it is not in weekday morning/evening rush hours,
you can go by trains only, transfer is not so hard, no need walk long.

I donft understand why you wonft take JR Chuo Line. Itfs an express service train. And Nakano station is only the fifth stop from Tokyo station.

Hi Zoiab,
I am taking a look at the route to Shinjuku from Haneda airport by limo bus. From Shinjuku, would you please elaborate the way/route to get to Nakano? I am struggling with 2 luggages and want to find the least cumbersome way to get there. Thanks.

Re: Walking from Tokyo to Otemachi 2019/6/25 13:38
Hi!

From Shinjuku you would also take the JR Chuo line to Nakano. It's one stop. The train runs every 3-5 minutes. I personally prefer navigating Tokyo Station with big luggage and I find it easier when you are the starting station with luggage but that is my bias. I am 99% sure Shinjuku and Tokyo Station have escalators. I am 90% sure Nakano does.

Good luck!

Thanks for all help from kind persons who have advised me so I now have a clear picture of better route. I am new to Japan and found the train and subway in Tokyo are like a labyrinth.
I am totally clear now on how to get to Nakano from Haneda Airport.
Thanks a lot.

Re: Walking from Tokyo to Otemachi 2019/6/25 15:29
Absolutely no reason to walk to Otemachi and the unnecessary M17 subway reference is again, pointless.
Haneda to Hamamatsucho and then the transfer to the Yamanote or Keihan-Tohoku line (blue or green) to Tokyo.
Tokyo is well signposted and you only have to shuffle across a couple of platforms. The Chuo Line (platforms 1 and 2) provide frequent trains and with luggage you will be able to get seats as it is the first stop.
Nakano is a short distance away in terms of time.
The whole thing is very easy - even in rush-hour it is not so bad (with luggage).
Hamamatsucho, Tokyo, and Nakano 100% certain all have both elevators and escalators for the platforms and access.

Re: Walking from Tokyo to Otemachi 2019/6/25 17:18
You can see that there are multiple stops for LimoBus going to Shinjuku.
"Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal" is the best.
https://www.limousinebus.co.jp/en/areas/detail/hnd/shinjuku/dep

The bus will reach the upper floor of JR Shinjuku stn,
so down to the lower floor with elevator or escalator very easy.

http://shinjuku-busterminal.co.jp/en/

Then just buy a train ticket and get on JR Chuo Line ordinary train.
JR Chuo Line ordinary trains for Nakano and more west, dep No.11 or 12 track.
For train ticket there is also a way to buy an IC(pre-paid) card
"Suica", "PASMO" or "monorail-Suica" at HND for trains, instead of paper ticket.
https://www.jreast.co.jp/e/pass/suica.html

These IC cards can also be used to pay LimoBus ticket vending machine,
but no big discount, just convenient, touch English button first.

Shinjuku stn has multiple ticket gates for multiple different railway companies,
so you hgve to go to the JR-EAST(JR) ticket gate, see the stn maps and video.
- Bus arr floor : 3F
- JR ticket gate : 2F
- JR Chuo line dep track : 1F

Only take trains via Shinagawa and Shinjuku stn is fare total cheapest, though.

Re: Walking from Tokyo to Otemachi 2019/6/25 20:19
If changing transport is what you want to avoid., depending on your arrival time you could also simply take a limousine bus directly from Haneda to Nakano.

Direct bus for Nakano stn is fewer than for Shinjuku, though.

Re: Walking from Tokyo to Otemachi 2019/6/26 14:19
Yes the options really depend on time of day, budget and so on.

If it's rush hour, starting at Tokyo Station means you can be the first on the train, and stand (or sit) near the door so it's easier to get off. It might be hard to get on the JR train at Shinjuku with luggage if it's crowded.

Another rush-hour option is to take the limousine bus to Shinjuku Station and then a taxi all the way to the destination in Nakano.

Direct bus to Nakano is certainly an attractive option, but only if there's not a long wait for the bus (since they don't run so frequently).

Sending luggage via takkyubin is yet another option - it's an additional expense, and it might or might not be more expensive than a taxi ride from Shinjuku to Nakano.
