To Takachiho, Mt Aso & Kusasenri

Hi
I cannot drive, so will be using public transport to go around Kyushu. I have about four days to spend between Kagoshima and when I fly out of Kumamoto airport late morning. In that time I would like to visit Takachiho Gorge, Mt Aso and Kusasenri. In these places I would like to go on walks and in Takachiho take a boat trip too. Could someone please advise me on bus times so I could manage this?

Thanks. After looking at several timetables it seems to get to Aso station from Takachiho I have to go to Kumamamoto airport from Takachiho by bus and then change buses, catching one heading for Oita. Is this correct? Is there no shorter way by public transport?
