Does the immigration cross check your degree?

Asking for a friend of mine, he wants to travel to Japan to come and teach English there he just wants to know when you apply for your work permit do they cross check your degree where you got your degree from or don`t they

Immigration cannot check your degree.
I do not know why you ask this question. But if you have not the right degree for work, your employer can see fast.
If you come to Japan on a work visa (engineer etc) and you are not informing the truth your visa can be revoked.

Immigration cannot check your degree.
Why not? Immigration knows how to use the phone, mail, and Internet.
