Kansai Thru Pass or Kanazai One pass? 2019/8/12 20:17
hi,
we're two couples planning 6 days in Kanazai area.
4 days Kyoto- staying in Kyoto.
one day Nara and one day mount Koya- staying in Osaka.
in the 7th day travel from Osaka to Hiroshima with a train.

should we buy the Kanasai Thru Pass or the Kanazai One Pass?

Kansai Thru Pass is 4300 yen for 2 days and 5300 yen for 3 days. This is the "flex" type pass which you can use non-consecutive days. Nara to Koyasan to Osaka (Namba) is 3,820 yen if you use non-JR trains (you can't get to Koyasan with JR only) and Kyoto to Nara is 620 yen so at least Kansai Thru Pass 2 days will pay off. Note that you may want to take Kyoto subway and Koyasan Rinkan bus which is included in the pass. Two days or Three days depends on your other destinations. One more thing: if you want to take Nankai's Limited Express trains (Koya etc), you must top up several hundred yens for the express fee. Kansai One Pass is basically the prepaid IC card which does not discount the travel fare. Of course it is convenient so you might get one beside the Kansai Thru Pass.
