Train Fare increase in Japan

Do you think From 1st October 2019,Train Fare will increase in all over Japan?

Not just rail fares - the passes will go up as well.

Dunno what the pricing will be. But most rail companies already have their announcement up and released about price changes. Worth looking at.

Remember that the change is 8% to 10% GST. So not a huge change. Lest the 2% total increase.

You already pay 8%vat. It is just going up to 10%.

What about JR Hokkaido higashi nihon pass 7 Day=10850 yen.It also increasing or not?

The VAT is increasing in Japan from 8% to 10% (still ridicoulously low, if you ask any European). So it means, yes, everything will increase by 2%. Obviously some places might want to take the opportunity and round up (or down).

I still remember some vending machines had a 5 yen coin taped to the product as the machines wouldn't accept 5 yen coins when the last increase happened 5 years ago.

In 2013,I bought higashi nihon pass 7 Day for 10000 yen.and travel unlimited time by JR East,JR Hokkaido, aoimori tetsudo,iwate ginga tetsudo,hokuetsu kyuko,Fuji kyuko non JR train.

When I went Japan for the first time,then we pay 3% vat.then we pay 5% vat.now we pay 8% vat.from 1st October we will pay 10% vat.

About JR Hokkaido higashi nihon pass:yes,I also pay 10000 yen.
Then 10500 yen.now 10850 yen for 7 days.This is one of my favorite transport pass.because, it is so cheap.

I bought a JR Pass before 30 Sep but will be using it on 19 Oct. Will I be asked to top up the pass difference when I exchange the voucher for the pass?

No requirement to top up.
