Shirawago without a guide? 2019/9/16 23:52
We will travel to Shirawago from Takayama on our way to Kanazawa. Is it worthwhile to see the area without a guide? We will read up before we go Or should we hire a guide?

This depends on your personal preference when traveling. I have never hired a guide anywhere and yes, most people tour Shirakawago without a guide.

Enjoy your trip to Japan!

The main village of Shirawago is supersmall. You can easily orientate yourself without any guide

Ogimachi is tiny. Guide not required. You don't need much help to look at farm-houses.

There are a few smaller details or areas you might miss, but the whole place can be covered in a couple of hours.
