Is the Hakone Kamakura 3-Day Pass worth it? 2019/9/27 18:57
Hello

My husband and I plannong on a day trip to Kamakura from Tokyo (Shinjuku), and then the next day traveling from Tokyo (Shinjuku) to Hakone where we will be spending the night. From Hakone, we then travel to Kyoto. Is the Hakone Kamakura 3-Day Pass worth it?

Here is our itinerary:

Mon 11 Nov
Day trip Tokyo-Kamakura return.

Tue 12 Nov
Travel from Shinjuku to Hakone. Stay the night.

Wed 13 Nov
Travel from Hakone to Kyoto.

We were also thinking of getting the Romance car from Shinjuku to Hakone. I think you pay a bit extra for that?

What is the most cost-effective way to complete this trip?

Thanks!

I would rather take JR train to Kamakura which is faster (but somewhat more expensive). There are local passes in the area, such as Kamakura Enoshima pass.

To get to Ofuna (from Shinjuku) you have to pay the normal JR fare though.

Then if you don't use the return section of the Hakone Free pass, then buy the "from Odawara" version, a single ticket from Shinjuku to Odawara and a Romance car ticket.
