Transferring money once I have left Japan 2019/10/12 22:57
Am leaving Japan in a few days but have some financial settlements that will come into my Japanese bank account in next month. I will have to surrender my zairyu card at the airport while leaving. After that ,Will I be able to use transfer wise or go remit to transfer funds from my Japanese bank account? Does surrendering zairyu card affect the ability to make these transactions?

Which bank? Japanese banks have varying levels of tolerance towards non-residents.

Make sure you tell your bank your new address.

I have Prestia (which I think is associated with SMBC) and they are totally fine with me living abroad. Even sending me my bank statements every month.

If you donft tell them I donft think they will find out immediately. So you still have some time to transfer money.

Btw, did you notify your ward/city office that you are leaving?
