Can i buy shinkanshen ticket using suica

Hi, I am wondering if I can use it to buy shinkanshen ticket.
The reason of question is i have quite a lot of money recharged into my suica and I just found out that in order to get my money back from the card is by returning the card but I can't do that because the card is borrowed from a friend and he wants the card back.

Thanks for the replies. I forgot to mention that I was planning to use Shinkansen between Osaka-Kyoto and unfortunately suica does not covee this route.
How do i find out more about Shinkansen ticket vending machines that accept suica?

You can also pay for a lot of other things by Suica. Restaurants, taxis, convenience stores...

Could you not return card for refund and buy your friend another for 500y?

You can buy it by Suica at major JR-EAST(Tokyo area, etc.) stn's MV, BUT not in Osaka.

However, Shinkansen does not stop at JR Osaka stn, so you must transfer at JR Shin-Osaka stn.

If the waiting time at Shin-Osaka stn is long, Shinkansen plan is worthless usual.

My friend's card has his name printed on it so i will not swap with new card.
I've been using the card in some shops and few restaurants. Voip I'll take your suggestion to buy JR rapid osaka-kyoto return. Really appreciate your detailed response.
