Translation of university certificate

Hello,
So I am starting the proccess of applying for a working visa here in Japan, and one of the documents they ask you for is the University Certificate. But in cases where the certificate is not written in English or Japanese, they ask you to do a translation to english.
At this moment, I only got the physical document, so I was thinking if I do a simple translation indicating everything that is written in the certificate would suffice, or if I need to follow any kind of pattern or template.
Has anyone here done that before?
