Where to find snow near Osaka?

Hello, Ifll be in Osaka from Dec 28 - Jan 1 and Ifd like to have a side trip to some town with snow. Wefre planning to visit Biwako Valley Resort but if therefs a town that has snowfall 1-2 hours away we might just go there instead. Ifve heard about Shirakawa and Kanazawa, are they good places to find snow? are there any other towns as well? thank you!
