Living cost in Kobe 2020/4/26 19:21
Hi.

I am a single person, i don't smoke nor drink alcohol. However, i can't cook.
Will 100,000 jpy per month be sufficient for me to cover all the meals and utilities expense if i live in Kobe? I don't have to pay rent.

Thank you.

While you could live on that, it can/would be easier/cheaper if you can cook.
Most of my meals putting stuff in a fry-pan and applying heat isn't hard.

Yes definitely learn to cook some easy meals, you'll have more money to do some more fun things in Japan.

Also you will become quite unhealthy if you rely on take aways and convenience stores. There's plenty of websites with easy Japanese recipes so you can get cheap ingredients at the supermarket.

I came to Japan with not much cooking experience and have managed to pick up quite a bit of Japanese cooking knowledge, you can easily whip up a donburi or yakisoba etc at home.

Is your amenities and taxes paid for?

When living by yourself - these can make a huge difference. Note that this wage will suit the most frugal of us. That is - if you can get to Japan with the current lockdown.....
