Student visa to working visa issues

I have a prospect company that is willing to sponsor me a working visa but my college degree is different from the job I'm applying for. I heard from the others who were former student visa holders (who are now working visa holders) that it doesn't matter as long as you finished a BS 4 year course. Did the rules changed recently about it?

It's some type of manufacturing company. I will be working there as a common employee, not a professional job.
