"Student visa" to "Designated stay visa"?

Can a language school student apply for tokutei katsudo? (Designated Stay Visa) It's kinda rough these times, some flights are suspended, pandemic is on going. I don't think it is safe to travel overseas plus, I want to take time to look for an employer to sponsor me a visa. Is it possible?

your resident status expiration is temporarily suspended, until you can go out from Japan.
when everything is normal (or manageable), you need to choose either one: continuing study or getting a job, or something else.
when you lose reason to stay Japan, you need to go out.
the reason "because Japan is safer than your country", probably will not be accepted.
