questions about immigration points

Hello,
I plan on looking for work in japan after I have completed my 2022/2023 masters degree.
The main question I have around this is on the immigration points form it says "Bonus Points 11: Graduation from a university separately specified by the Minister of Justice in a public notice" gets you 10 extra points. Do I get this extra 10 points if only my masters degree is from one of these universities (and my normal degree is not)?
also I'm a bit confused as to what the following two points mean: 1) "holder of a foreign work-related qualification" - does this mean a software engineer gets an extra 5 points with a computer science degree? 2) "Holder of doctorfs degrees, masterfs degrees or professional degrees in multiple areas" - so if someone has a professional degree in lets say "Mathematics and Computing" and a masters degree in "Machine Learning" they get an extra 5 points?
Any comments appreciated :)

It has been a while since I checked the "points" system, but in relation to 1) "holder of a foreign work-related qualification" - does this mean a software engineer gets an extra 5 points with a computer science degree? the short answer is "no". What they mean is something like holding a CPA qualification if you are an accountant - i.e. an additional professional qualification in addition to something like a degree in accounting.

Not sure if I interpret this sentence correctly, but it sounds like you plan to apply for HSP visa WITHOUT having a job in Japan first. As far as I understand the HSP system, you still need to first find a job and then you can apply for this type of visa. So you cannot just move to Japan, get HSP visa, then search for a job and start working.
Regarding your other questions, they are definitely very valid questions, but unfortunately I cannot help you with those as in my recent application for HSP I didn't use these categories.

Hi LikeBike - no this is incorrect. I understand that the employers will need to help me apply for this type of visa (hence I will need a job first), and it is apparently very cheap for them to do so, so this is something I am not worried about.

Just as an observation, you are going to be a fresh grad, no experience, and young. The HSP places a lot of emphasis on salary/income. New/young recruits get paid badly in Japan so getting the necessary level of points could be tough. I assume you are looking at the advanced specialized / technical activity category.

Hi JapanCustomTours - Yes it will be specialized/technical visa. Also I am not a fresh grad, I graduated 8 years ago and have been in work ever since. The masters degree I am doing is in the same field as what I am working in - it's just to help push me into further specialisation.

I agree with JapanCustomTours. To be honest, I am wondering if foreigners who have just graduate a non-Japanese university have an opportunity to get a job in Japan except ALT and some others.
In Japan, when people look for a job which they engage after graduation, they do job hunting while student and start working right after graduation from April 1 altogether. Other times for starting are for people who have already have experience(s) and changed a job. Of course employes may treat foreigners differently as they know academic year is different in the other countries. However, I have never seen/heard new employees who have just graduated a non-Japanese university in general companies and organizations. Non-Japanese working in Japan I know except ALT and some others have experience(s) in own or other country(s) .
