Japanese work visa to SOFA

I am Zimbabwean woman living in Japan. I am currently on a Japanese work Visa and have been working for my current company for about three years.

A few months ago i recently got married to US military serviceman who is based here in Japan on one of the military bases. We met here in Japan. So now i qualify to go under the SOFA agreement.

My husband and I agreed that i would not renew my contract with the Japanese company which comes to an end in december as I am not happy there.

We think it might be better to find something on base even if its part time or maybe i could study. My work Visa is expiring next year in february and i want to know of it will be possible to switch to SOFA visa and what process would i have to follow.

Has anyone that you know of been in a similar situation?

In need of gudance so that i know the appropriate steps to take beforehand.

Any advice would really be appreciated.
